CRM 4.0 License Options Available

With the release of Microsoft Dynamics CRM version 4.0, greater choices are now available regarding the different types of CALs (Client Access License) purchased.

For instance, Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 will now offer both USER CALs and DEVICE CALs. With User CALs, each user may use multiple client interfaces. With Device CALs, each device may be shared by multiple users over time, as in a Call Center or Customer Service Center. They can be mixed in a deployment, so you can receive some User CALs and some Device CALs, depending on how your organization works. In addition, it is important to note you can convert from a User CAL to Device CAL if required when upgrading from version 3.0 to 4.0.

Also available, Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 will offer both FULL CALs and LIMITED-USE CALs. With Full CALs, each User has full read and write access to all capabilities (you can then if you wish, set up different security settings based on User). With Limited-Use CALs, a User has read-only access to CRM. Full and Limited-Use may also be mixed within an organization if necessary.
